West Hollywood Book Fair
I have just been invited to participate in the West Hollywood Book Fair on Sunday, September 26th. I’ll be doing a presentation on the Teen Stage, followed by a signing, courtesy of Once Upon A Time Books.
This is my first book fair, so I’m not quite sure what to expect. In fact, it’s been a long time since I’ve even been to a fair of any sort. The application process made it sound as though they’d like a little bit more than a mere reading, so I offered to through in a little bit of fun biology as well. After the success of the Mindshare poop lecture, many of the Mindshare folks suggested I should simply lecture on hippo poop again. No doubt, that would go over well with the teens (at least the male ones) but I wasn’t sure how it would fly with the staff. So for now, I’ve told them I’ll be talking about black mambas.
Mambas are among the world’s most dangerous snakes. The kids have got to like that, right? That’s why I even put them in the book in the first place. Because my mission isn’t just to entertain, darn it. It’s also to educate.
So if you feel like you have a big knowledge gap where poisonous snakes are concerned — or you just want to be supportive — or you’d like to see any of the other 150 or so authors and illustrators scheduled to be there — come on by the West Hollywood Book Fair!
